Presentas.. Santos Bandidos! A Spanglish band made up of Canadian Cat, El Diego de Argentina y migo, Pedrito. Our first gig was at the Sundancers Backpacker Hostel, then onto a public train where “we rocked the crowd back to front like a palindrome”, and since we’ve busked across the city picking up money, bottles of wine & even potted plants from a green fingered passer by. Think this may be our calling in life… Spreading musical cheer & happiness throughout the land!

After working in “demolition” for a few weeks (i.e. shop fitters with sledgehammers) I’ve had to start from scratch again and scour the internet for another job. As luck would have it, I stumbled on a sales position for a nationwide magazine and sent off my CV.On a side note: employers in Oz want a simple and hard hitting resume, so use bullet points and keep it to one page - with as little fat as possible.
So as of now, I’m stationed in Fremantle, making the most of the beautiful weather and world class beaches. I work, drink tea and eat home cooked lunches, whilst alternating between BBM Live and Go West Magazine. The former is a British lifestyle brand for young professionals working and travelling Oz, whilst the latter is the most widely distrubuted budget guide to WA.Watch this space for upcoming issues & some of my own creative writings!

First few weeks in Australia…

Got to Darwin, NT, in mid August and have been loving it ever since. Found a job on gumtree for a face to face fundraising position… The task was to travel cross country, through mining camps and little known towns, raising donations for the Australian Red Cross & Médecins Sans Frontières.
So to cut a long story short, I got the job and worked for Zen Marketing / Cornucopia Fundraising for 6 weeks. We went from Darwin to Perth, and all the wacky places in between. Highlights of the trip were Karratha’s wildlife / nightlife, snorkeling the Ningaloo Reef, celebrating my 25th birthday in Geraldton, WA, and making great friends along the way. Thanks to our managers Duncan & Mel for a such a great experience, look forward to teaming up with everyone again!
